Walk the walk

Every night before bed time Little Bug, Mr. Gnome (when he isn't working) and I go for a walk. It is a short walk just around the block. This walk can take half an hour to an hour, depending on how tired the bug is. It's shorter when she is tired and she just wants to be carried. Usually this is not the case. Usually she has her ritual.
First there is the rock she used to sit on. A couple weeks ago it was swarming with ants. Now it is the "bug rock" and she won't sit on it even though the ants are gone.
Then there is a small wooden wall she walks on.

Followed by the large stone wall she walks and jumps on. A dachshund lives at this home who loves to say hello and give kisses.

After this we come to the end of our street where we have the... discussion about playing at the park. Generally the discussion involves her saying she wants to play and me reminding her we are just walking before bed. Then she tells me she will play tomorrow.

Lately she has been picking up two sticks to hit together while singing a song. Today she would face a car parked on the side of the road and sing to it then she'd move on and sing to the next. She sang to five cars tonight.

Then comes a wide wooden wall with a white dog.

Then a wobbly stone wall with a stone lion. We all say "Roar" to the lion. Last night she gave it a kiss. Then the stone wall we don't walk on because the owner yells. Then another wooden wall.

At a corner of our block is a random business area. Our street is all apartments but there are three random business buildings. Little Bug walks up the path to one door then across a slate path to this door where we sit.

Today she tried to put this branch back on the tree. It didn't work.

We then walk through the parking lot of the next business and we are back on our street. There are the last two walls to walk on. Now there are also a lot of acorns to pick up. She likes to blow on the acorns, she likes it when I blow on the acorns. I'm not sure why we blow on the acorns.

At the end of the walk she puts her sticks down and we go inside.

We will only do this walk two more times. Then it will be a new walk. To and from a new house. It is all rather exciting!

Harper Lee, Harper Lee

Well I've always wanted to read this, now I guess I have to. When I worked in a book store for some reason we would always chant "Harper Lee, Harper Lee" whenever someone asked for To Kill a Mockingbird. Or How to Kill a Mockingbird.

You're To Kill a Mockingbird!

by Harper Lee

Perceived as a revolutionary and groundbreaking person, you have
changed the minds of many people. While questioning the authority around you, you've
also taken a significant amount of flack. But you've had the admirable guts to
persevere. There's a weird guy in the neighborhood using dubious means to protect you,
but you're pretty sure it's worth it in the end. In the end, it remains unclear to you
whether finches and mockingbirds get along in real life.

Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.

Sorry for the crankiness of the last post. I'm feeling a lot better since. My camera died so I'm afraid this will be a pictureless blog for a while. Just as well I don't have any FOs to show.

I Hate Packing

I hate the odd shaped boxes or the odd shaped things that don't fit into the odd shaped boxes. I hate cheap tape. I have known about cheap tape for a long time yet that is still what I bought. Why why why!!!! It sticks best to itself and my fingers. It rips where you don't want it to rip. Oh it is Evil! I hate tripping over boxes; full and empty alike. I am convinced that they reach out and grab my leg whenever I walk by. I hate losing the tape and marker with every box that is packed.
Not to mention the stress of where we will be moving all by ourselves or if anyone is going to be able to help us.

Saturday I packed 2 boxes.
Monday I packed 0 boxes.
Today, so far, I have packed 7 boxes.

In less than a week we close.
One week from now I will be at the house waiting for the delivery of furniture.

Little Bug is totally picking up on all the stress she has been sleeping Horribly! Which really only adds to my stress. It is a horrible downward spiral.

Today Little Bug is 2 and a half.

You'd think I'd give up

After the disaster of Intoxicated you'd think I'd want a break from knitting sweaters.

This is from Junior Knits by Debbie Bliss. I found the knitting section at our local Library. It is quite nice. Some old stuff but a lot of new stuff too. A few books with one or two patterns I liked but wouldn't buy just for one or two patterns. This is the Molly Bolero. Little Bug thought that was a funny name. The yarn was given to me when I first started knitting from my former-knitting Oma. Just don't tell Debbie Bliss I'm knitting one of her patterns with acrylic Bernat yarn. She might come to my house and beat me with the size 8 needles! This is really a nice book there are a lot of patterns I'd like to do. The sizes start at three and go up to ten. However I don't see me using Debbie Bliss yarn for a kid's sweater. Ow is that stuff pricey!

And to answer your question; Yes, we have started packing. A little. Sort of.... I need to get packing tape so we put fall/winter clothes into suitcases. Little Bug had to help so she packed her own clothes. She even folded them. She is so intent on helping with Everything. It is really quite sweat and can be a lot of fun. It can also be a bit of a mess. She stirs anything I cook, she has her own broom for sweeping, when I mop she has a sponge, she has to carry one side of the laundry basket and helps fold the clothes. Packing should be an adventure.

For the next few weeks you will either hear nothing from me or lots of packing stories. Hard to truly say what I'll do. Probably not much knitting. Or at least there shouldn't be since I should be packing. We'll see.

Too Intoxicated

Intoxicated is finished. It has been finished for almost a week I've been putting off blocking it. Sometimes the end is the worst. Will it fit? Is it a horrible disaster? If it isn't finished then it can continue to be beautiful in my head.
Here it is blocking
Saul Helped

I looks like it could be a sweater. I must mention that blocking this thing was a BITCH! The shoulders are done with a three needle bind off. My first time doing that and my first time having to rip that out. Not an easy thing to undo. Anyhoo. The blocking. It wanted to be SO much bigger than it is supposed to be. It wanted to be all stretched out. I beat it into place. The lace sleeves were a lot easier. Also wanting to be very large but tacking direction much better than the mosaic. Love knitting the mosaic; blocking is a B! Anyway. I sewed it up and well.... I need to find someone I love very much who is bigger than me....

Not great photos. But you can see how baggy it is, droops at the shoulders and well that on the top right is my hand. It is supposed to be a fitting sweater. It is really the part where it droops at the shoulders that says it is to big on me. The rest could be livable.

Oh the top picture is an iron I got at a yard sale over Labor Day weekend. I think it is cool.

Little Bug wanted to learn to knit. I cast on a few stitches and showed her. She could do the put the right needle into the loop part it was the making the loop before bringing it off the left needle that she had problems with. I told her we could try again when she is five.
