Imagine if you will

This sock.

On both my legs; bearing in mind that I am 5'1". Crazy right? Wild! I am so excited!! Again perhaps not for you. But I am very excited. These socks take personality, confidence, one must be complex. A girl walks down the street in socks like these.... oh wait... not quite that. A bit of close up action. This is Interlacement's Toasty Toes yarn, in case you were wondering, and I know you were. It is so soft I will have to shave my legs when I wear these socks just so the wool can be closer to my skin. The pattern is Renaissance Socks from Vogue's Ultimate Sock book.

Off to cast on for the second sock!

Freebie!

Friday I left the sock at a play date. Sad, sad day. I'll get it again I just have to wait an Entire week!!!! What to do, what to do.
I'd been wanting to make Little Bug some arm warmers. And needed something that didn't take too much concentration to bring to knitting on Sunday. So I cast on Saturday and.....

finished Sunday.... So much for that getting me through the week. Doesn't she look like a brooding rocker chick? She thinks they are very cool and I'm quite pleased as well. Just a tube knit 1x1 with a thumb hole. I made the hole by casting off three stitches then on the next round casting those three stitches back on. It's Lamb's Pride yarn that was in my Stitch N Pitch goody bag knit up on 6s. So not only was it fast it was free too. Can't beat that!

Oh and pictures from the knitting Olympic ceremony if you are interested.

Gold

Finished the Olympic sweater yesterday. Complete with buttons. Picking out the buttons was definitely the hardest thing about this sweater.

Little Bug really likes it. She helped pick out the buttons. This may or may not have helped with the processes.
At Knitty today there was the award ceremony. I got gold because I finished in time. A gold pin cushion to be exact. Fun.

Fin

The third pig laughed at his brothers with their stick and straw houses. He decided to make himself a house of bricks. It took FOREVER and everyone wanted it to be over and done with.

It was a quaint little piggy village.

Then along came a wolf. Since these so called huts have no doors (serious design flaw on the pigs part) there was no "little pig, little pig let me in" and no odd answers regarding chin hairs. No huffing or puffing, no houses being blown down, even the brick house wasn't safe. As you can see it is ironically the straw house that is still standing in this post wolf world. The stick and brick pigs were eaten by the wolf complete with sound effects.

The End.

I'm a flower fairy...

I'm a flower fairy. That's what Little Bug likes to chant whenever she is running around outside holding a flower. She often gets me to sing along too. And now that Titania is finished I am truly a fairy!

There it is. Rather looks like a reflection in a carnival mirror. But that is what it looks like. Maybe I look like a carnival mirror.... My back doesn't look like a carnival mirror. That's good I suppose.

Close up. Oooooh.

OK so to review. The pattern was Titania. The yarn was King Tut by Knitting Fever, slippery stuff and a bit splitty, but no more than one would expect from cotton. It's soft and comfy to wear. The pattern's measurements had me as a small at the waist and a medium at the bust. I know it's a hard life. So I cast on for the small then increased up to a medium. And as you can see it's quite fitting. I also made the body a little longer and the sleeves a little shorter. The open lace work makes it a bit...well not something I'd just wear to the grocery store. Not unless I was picking up a fairy prince at the grocery store. I told Mr. Gnome we have to go on a date so I can wear it.

Olympic Progression

The Bug's sweater took a break last night to take a bath. (Block)

All that is left are the front button bands. And picking out buttons. I think that will be the biggest challenge.

More Pickin'

This time it was for peaches and blackberries.

We went to the same place. They were nearly out of blackberries and only had them on the bushes with thorns. We got a little scratched but they are worth it. Yum! That is two pecks of peaches. When we got home Mr. Gnome was saying he didn't really like peaches. sigh... We started cutting some up to freeze for future pies and just eating. He started eating them and is now a convert. Well, only for self picked peaches. His prior feelings can be reasoned that he grew up in Vermont where one doesn't go out and pick peaches in the summer. Or even have decent ones at the grocery store. Though these would forever shame a store bought peach!
So far we've made Blackberry Scones

Peach Cobbler

And to be a bit crazy Blackberry pancakes with Peach Sauce.

And of course freezing quite a bit.

Good progress

Despite having to rip out the first ten rows during the opening ceremonies. Then Sunday have to rip out most of the left front side. The back and two fronts are finished; kid's clothes go so fast gotta love it. The first sleeve has been cast on. I really like how it is turning out. It's not as neutral as some of you might like but that's not how I role. And it's really not how Little Bug likes things.
I had six colors to choose from for this sweater. I love that I can ask Mr. Gnome his opinion and he really has one. We sat on the floor with those skeins of yarn for quite a while trying to decide what would look best and what would fit the Bug's personality. The next big decision will be buttons... hmmmmmm....

Olympics

In an attempt to be a group person I'm doing the Knitting Olympics with Knitty. I had wanted to do lace but I just can't knit involved lace with anyone around me. And with the husband's slower schedule that just wasn't going to happen. So I am attempting a cardigan for the Bug. A striped cardigan for the Bug. A striped somewhat clownish in color cardigan for the Bug.

The Striped Cardigan from Debbie Bliss Family Knits. The plan tonight is to wind up the purple and do some training (gauge swatch).

We're Back!

We got back last night from a week with my parents. We had a great time and are quite exhausted. You know, in that fun way where we had a lot of fun and did a lot of stuff.

We took the plane, possibly for the last time if ticket prices keep going up like they say they will. Every time we fly the Bug likes to look at the airplane information and safety card. I finally got a picture of her reading it. She looks so serious, cracks me up.

We went to the lake, a children's museum, I got to see my best friend (we've known each other since we were twelve!), met my new nephew and just hung out. That's the bug on top of a Stegosaurus.

This is a plastic container I found on my mother's bread machine. That's what was in it. I thought that was the most random thing I just had to take a picture of it. My mom claims not to know anything about this box. I think it represents my parents fairly well.

Last but not at all least is the yarn. The pinkish stuff on the left is my Virginia 2008 trip yarn from this cute yarn shop in Carry Town. On the right is the yarn my mom (Ravelry because I can't seem to find her Blog!) brought me from Spain and Italy. Cool! She spent three weeks in Spain doing an immersion language thing. Crazy I know!

I have been knitting and have some stuff to show but that is for another day. I'm off to catch up on laundry!
