But is it art?

Before we bought the house the previous owner had some branches cut down. He had paid some guy to cut them down and take them away. When we bought the house the branches were still in the yard. Shortly after we moved in the guy who was supposed to take the branches away came by to tell us that he was getting a new trailer and then he'd be able to take away the branches. And by the way he used to cut the previous owner's lawn and would we be interested in that service. Not being interested in paying someone to do something we can do ourselves we declined. Surprise, surprise he never came to get the branches.
So we cut them up and made a trellis for the peas. This is only about half of the wood we'll use the rest when we go camping next month. Of course we stuck this in the ground After planting the peas so we still have the string but it'll be cool next year.

Lumpy Socks Take Shape

Finished them last night. They look longer than they are here. Perspective.
A close up of the pattern. It looked harder and more involved than I thought it would be.
The bottom of the foot so you can see how muddy the yarn knit up even without a pattern messing with it. Ah well.
The info: Art Felt Yarn, some lady up in Vermont, toe up on 0s with a 2x1 rib, the pattern is called Oriel from Sensational Knitted socks. It just isn't very exciting to finish wool socks in June. sigh.....

KIP

This past Saturday The Bug and I went out to the local Knit In Public hoopla. It was fun and she let me knit for almost two hours. A lot longer than I was expecting. I didn't take any pictures but Thi over at Knitty got some cute ones of the bug.

5:30am

Is a horrible time of day.

Yesterday we went to the pool. A grand time was had by all. However, Little Bug missed the memo on children going to sleep with ease at bedtime after an afternoon spent playing in the pool. She went to bed two hours late instead. How is beyond me she was playing hard! Then this morning she was up and ready to go at 5:30am.

To convince myself that being up at such a horrible hour wasn't the end of the world I made oatmeal pancakes. (no picture they were quite ugly for all their yummieness)

By 1 I had hit a massive slump and could. not. wake. up. My attempts at hot cocoa were thwarted by rotten hot cocoa mix. So I did what anyone would do in that situation; I made cookies. It should be noted that the Bug was still going strong.

Wakes you right up doesn't it. mmmmmm

My foggy brain had forgotten that I had rolls rising since before I started the cookies. Thus super poofy rolls.

I like them that way so all is good.

And so you see that I can eat healthy dinner was "clean out the fridge primavera" with baby swiss chard from the garden. Also sage, oregano and spicy bush basil from the garden. The spicy basil is the sprig on top. This is my first year with this stuff and I Love it. It smells great, has a funky kind of spicy taste (duh) and grows in these cute little bushes that replenish picked leaves super fast.

House of Straw

One of those pigs went and built his house out of psychedelic straw. If you never believed in psychedelic straw here it is. Ah the joys of knitting from the stash, you never know what you're going to end up with.
My personal adjustment is the top tassel. I don't like tassels, I've been over this before. I couldn't even do the tassel on this house. I thought I'd be ok with it since it's not a hat. But when it came right down to it I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So I turned to my usual answer to the tassel dilemma and made squigglies. It doesn't really look like hay but then neither does a tassel.
As soon as Little Bug got it she put the piggy to sleep inside. Shhh.. the piggy is sleeping.

One Ball Gone

The one day I can take time to take pictures of the knitting it is storming. Of course the storming is the reason I have the chance to take any pictures. These are not good representations of the greens. But you get the idea. Maybe.
Actually you can't even tell that either of them are green can you? They are trust me.
This is the Bubbly Curtain from Mason Dixon Knitting. We want a new curtain in the bathroom. This is adjusted to fit out window which is larger than the pattern by quite a bit. Which of course I didn't think about until After I'd bought the yarn. The bottom has more yarn overs and I have done more of those rows in an attempts to get more out of the yarn. This is the first skein and is only about a third of the window. The top has way less yarn overs and will eat up more yarn. I'm going to run out.... sigh... Also it should be noted that Euroflax (I'm using the recommended yarn again, crazy!) is a B.. to wind! Tangly little bastard!

Half way through the Antler's Scarf for Mr. Gnome. I got too much yarn for this one. It's either feast or famine over here. I'm still not a lover of scarves. I like to wear them well enough but knitting them has never appealed to me. This pattern however isn't half bad. All the cabling keeps it somewhat interesting. Though at half way through it's still just knitting a long rectangle. snorr.

An odd glimpse into my childhood

This Little Piggy went to the Market.

This Little Piggy stayed home.

This Little Piggy...ok here's the thing. I didn't have roast beef as a kid and neither will Little Bug. My mother always said, "had tofu", and that is what I say. In fact that is what comes more naturally for me to say. Anything else sounds weird.

In Bloom

Little Bug started these flowers from seed. She is very proud of them.

Snapdragons I got from our La Leche League's plant sale. All sorts of colors!

Finally finished sewing the flowers on the second fingerless glove. The second (the one on the right) is slightly different from the first. It has more bobbles on the bottom and doesn't have the second green garter ridge at the top. I like the flowers on the second more though. Directions who needs directions! The info. Flower Fingerless Gloves from Kristin Knits, in Nashua Jillian. The Husband calls them "Festive", whatever that means.

Bag it!

Yesterday I made the Bug a bag. The pattern is in Itty Bitty Nursery and she has been turning to it and telling me to make this bag for months.
She picked out the sequins then we went stash diving for some bulky yarn. I suggested gray, white, brown or blue. She picks the blue. Very bright very Little Bug. These sequins always make me think of dance recital.

Tie Dyeing Partay!

This weekend we went to a pot-luck/tie dye party. It was great fun.
Bug had gotten this shirt from her Gamma (Grandma in Bug) last summer. She promptly got a stain on the front. Nothing like tie dye to cover up a stain! Bug picked the colors and Daddy did the dyeing.
