March of the FOs

Those finished objects keep marching on. Or so it seems I suppose.

In reality this scarf is because I was having a dilemma. Scarf, by the way, is just 1x1 rib with Gianna on size 9, I'm calling it Black & Tan (which might mean something to someone). Generally as I'm finishing up a project I begin to dream about the next. Fairly common I'm sure. After the fingerless gloves I was going to start on the Sunrise Circle Jacket. I had the yarn all ready and waiting. I did the gauge swatch and..... it wasn't going to happen. I wasn't getting anywhere near what I wanted. The fabric would've just been to thick. Heavy worsted doesn't can't work with Aran; not too surprising I know. This meant I had to change gears, pick something else to knit. However, I'd been thinking about this sweater for weeks.

At the same time I was also working on starting the next pair of socks. I Thought I knew what I wanted that to be as well. This time Light fingering doesn't equal sport.

Two times in one day having to change gears. Having to get excited about something else. But what. We all know I have the yarn for other sweaters and socks. Sweaters and socks I want to make. But when I'm excited about something and plan on doing it I have problems changing and doing something else. Even if I want to do it. In the end I bought Gytha, which caused other drama because I don't currently have a printer. This is when I just pulled out the yarn for this scarf. I'd always wanted it to be a scarf but had whined about the boredom of doing 1x1 rib for that long. It was actually nice. After the past two knits I needed something very basic. This was it. I didn't even make sure the stripes were even I just knit until the ball was done and went to the next.

Trees!

The Winter Twilight Mitts are done. Woo! This was a fun little knit. I feel even better about me stranding abilities after this. It took a little faith on my part. While knitting it looked a bit bumpy and a little funky. But all that blocked right out and it is a nice even fabric now. Unfortunately with the snow I haven't worn them much yet. I want my fingers covered right now thank you. But the yarn is so soft I've just been petting them.

January Sock

I'm taking the challenge. Knitty Couture's sock a month 2009 challenge. This is a challenge for me. I figure it usually takes me around 5 weeks to finish a pair of sock. However these were started on Jan 1 (Not part of the rules just so happened that way) and I finished them Saturday. As you may recall this the Rainbowsock pattern. And these are still the ugliest rainbow socks. But that's ok. I liked the pattern a lot, it was a ton of fun, and apparently pretty quick. Next time shorter stripes for the striping yarn and I think I'll revers the pattern so the socks mirror each other.

Texturific

I finished knitting and sewing this up over a week ago. It has taken that long to get buttons.

To voice again, if I haven't already, this was Texture from the VogueKnitting Fall 2008. Cleckheaton Country and Rowan Felted Tweed. And the pattern was an absolute joy to knit. So involved and on size 10 needles so fast! Yet not looking like it's a bulky knit. Then the buttons. Oh the impossible search for buttons. I found these at a neat little consignment store just a few stores down from the LYS. This place is all about old style clothing, really neat. There is an old dresser with a bunch of little drawers full of buttons. Every shape, color and size you could think of. Since it's all as is. It's a challenge to find the button you love and the number you need. The first set I found was perfect, but only had four. I thought about using a plain button for the top. But then found these. I liked them just as much and there were five. It was fun looking through all the neat old buttons. One could lost in those drawers.

Summer Pie

During record low winter temperatures. Can't beat that. These were the last of the blueberries we picked last summer. The Bug said today she likes blueberries, but tomorrow she won't. More pie for the rest of us!

In the Closet

Yesterday we took everything out of our closet.

And completely redid it. I've wanted to do this since we moved in a year ago. Our bedroom closet is about average in width but oddly deep. The structure in the top picture only used the back half of the closet. This new design uses the sides. I call it a step in closet, since it isn't really enough for walking in.

It's hard to take a picture of the inside of a closet.

Just a bit of what's going on

Half started stuff seems so dull after fun finished things. But that is where we are my friends.
I have been dreaming about the Winter Twilight Mitts. I kept seeing it in the sky in all of its different potentials. I've also just wanted some black or purple fingerless gloves. I cast on for these Sunday when I got to run away and knit at Knitty all afternoon. mmmmm...good times.

Then there are the ugliest Rainbow Socks ever made. I like saturation and this yarn isn't. Also I bought this yarn a while ago with the intention of making these socks. I ordered it online and then didn't really really look at it when I got it. It wasn't until I cast on that I realized how freakishly long the color repeats are. Not what I think works best for the Rainbow Socks. Will have to try again with more appropriate yarn.

Sherwood

I finished Sherwood Saturday night. On Sunday when I showed the bug she literally squealed. I don' think there is a better reaction to something you have made. It fits great, I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

New Year, New Socks

Finished Mr. Gnome's sock on New Year's Eve. He wore them New Years Day. I wasn't sure how he'd really feel about stripey socks but he wore them. Has to be a good sign. So this was Filatura Di Crosa Maxime Print yarn bought by my mom in Italy this past summer. Knit toe up on 1s. All in all pretty fun.
