Three sleeves

And only two to show for it. Ah well. It was fun to tell people at knitting group that I was knitting my third sleeve. It's awesome that they new exactly what that meant; a good knitting disaster story. I finished the third sleeve Monday and haven't touched the knitting since. This horrible exhausting cold has knocked me on the floor and left me senseless. Well, the Flogging Molly concert last night probably didn't help. Very fun, but not what one should do to get over a cold. To emphasise how horrible I've been feeling I told Mr. Gnome that I didn't even knit the other night. Loving man that he is, he understood and was concerned.I also bring you a picture by The Bug of her post dinner plate. Very modern.

10

A much better look at the colorwork for Gytha. All blocked out and pretty. I was Hoping to report a finished sleeve with this post. Last night as I was finishing the first sleeve I realized that I had knit it up with 10 too many stitches all around! Rip! And beginning again. Nothing like starting the second sleeve without having a first one finished.

Baby It's Cold Outside

Back in December during a cold snap I decided I wanted another blanket to curl up with on the couch. Not having a traditional money making job I decided to make one. I started cutting out squares from old pieces of clothing; things that were just too stained or torn to give away.

This is most of what I ended up with. These are all 5x5 inches, there are also a number of 3x3 inch squares. There are also a crazy large amount of black squares. Enough, I think, to make Mr. Gnome a lap blanket. My original plan of a couch blanket has changed to one for the bed. When I started I didn't think I'd have enough for even the couch blanket. The above is for our bed and doesn't even use the brown and white squares pictured in the first picture. I also took out the squares from The Bug's clothes, I'm hoping to make her a blanket of her own some day.

It has taken me around two and a half months to cut all these squares. It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to sew them up.

February Socks

These have actually been done all week, I'm only just now getting working batteries into the camera.

Cascade 220 on size 5, toe up, short row toe, short row heel. Simple and cozy.

After finishing this sock I was anxious to start a new pair of socks, a new pair of socks for me, a new pair of socks that involve doing something other than plain knitting. I grabbed a ball of blue sock yarn. And what do I find?

Someone has been eating on my yarn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Horror, panic, mad searching and examining of all yarns. Finding no other signs of such horrors I look closer at this ball. I can see the culprit quite dead just a couple of layers into the ball. Taking no chances I have put all of my sock yarn into the freezer. I have had to appease myself with other knitting.

Lacey

I got this on discount at Knitty a week ago and this is how much I've done. Lace on 2s is slow. I also don't knit lace when Mr. Gnome is home. Too distracting. This is the Saigon Scarf. Though I think I might make it a tad longer. Ooh and yes those shiny bits are beads. So cool!

Warm Mr. Gnome Socks

Over one and a half done. These will be my February Socks and I'm not at all worried about finishing on time. Well yes, it is worsted weight Cascade 220, but it does have a heel and toe. Mr. Gnome has been asking for some cozy socks and I think these will do it. Funky and Sporty and Manly all at the same time.

Gytha

As I said before I started on Gytha.

I'm really enjoying it. Of course the colorwork at the bottom was the most fun and now I'm just knitting up. But after all the graphs of the last few projects I'm enjoying mindless knitting. I'm using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes. I got a gift card to Knit Picks for Chanukah from my mom and this is only part of what I bought. I was watching Star Wars while knitting a good part of the color work. I noticed that the bottom is the same colors as R2D2 and the top two bits kind of look like star fighters. Just goes to show that Star Wars is a part of everything.

Super Bowl Snack

Not that I care about the Super Bowl and not that Mr. Gnome cares about the snacks. But because it was fun. I made VeganDad's Vegan Boneless Hotwings (love that it says boneless, cracks me up) and ShowMeVegan's Queso Dip.
The Dip is Really good. I've come to the conclusion that I don't really like hot sauce so the wings were just ok. I'd like to try it without the hot sauce some time.
And because The Bug wanted a snack too. A fruit plate for us all to share.
Happy commercial watching!
