First Sock

This is the first sock for June. The pair will be a Chanukah gift for my father. I'm almost embarrassed that the first June sock is done before June. Almost.

simple

I always have multiple projects on the needles. When I first started knitting I never would have imagined myself with multiple projects; it isn't really my personality. I like to start something and finish it. The way I can handle multiple projects is because I don't see them as being the same. I have a sock; the sock is the only knitting to leave the house (other than knit group). The sock is also the only knitting upstairs. I knit on it in the morning with my morning coffee and when I'm reading to The Bug. Then there is the downstairs knitting. This is the in front of the TV knitting. Usually there are one or two pieces going. A complex something; lots of crazy cables or lace or color work. And a simpler thing. Simple apparently is open to interpretation in my world. With two lace projects (oh wait three; but one's not being worked on now) on the needles my complex slot is full. So what do I put in my simple slot? What am I knitting when the husband is home and I just can't do the lace?

Lithuanian Color Work. Right... Simple.... Back view. I'm saying all this so you will understand my state of obvious insanity. And so you'll forgive the crazy number of mistakes on this thing. This thing by the way is Aguona Laptop Bag kit from Knit Picks. We're going on a trip this summer and the laptop needs a bag. What? You bought yours? hmmmm....

May Socks

This is to document that I have in fact finished my May Socks. I'm not sure I'll make it to Knitty before the end of the month.

Cookie A's Twisted Flower Socks in Katia Caricia on size 1s. They were very involved a wee bit fidly even. All those increases and decreases and cabling. I really enjoyed it. What can I say I like involved things. But I'm very ready for some plain ribbed socks now. This last is the heel. Looks a bit odd if you don't know what it is.

The Last

The last of the dishclothes are finished.

You may be doing the math and say, "Hey wait that's only six." Yeay, well, I'm done. The last one is so very Seventies. Groovy. Or kind of like someone smashed a Cadberry Egg into a dishcloth.

I also opened the last jar of apple butter and used most of it in this pineapple upside down cake from a Vegetarian times a few months ago. It is very yummy with cranberries on and in the cake too. It's like a very spiced apple sauce bread.

Lady Bug Girl!!!

Back in January we got Ladybug Girl as a post holiday sale at Borders. The Bug had liked ladybugs before but since reading this book she is in love. Ladybug Girl is a bout a little girl who's dressed up like a ladybug. Her big brother doesn't want to play with her because she's too small. Her parents are doing a project. Thus she is left alone to entertain herself. At the end she realizes all the cool stuff she did on her own and declares "Ladybug Girl is Not little!". A sentiment The Bug can really identify with.

I recently found this sundress pattern. As soon as The Bug saw it she informed me that she wanted hers to be yellow. We went to the fabric store to get yellow fabric and found some with orange flowers and ladybugs all over it. She was quite excited.

The knitting took no time at all. It's Sugar & Cream the black dots were an almost last minute idea. I like how it turned out a lot. It's supposed to last two years and I really hope it does. As soon as i finished she wanted to put it on and run around yelling, "I'm Ladybug Girl, I'm Ladybug Girl!". Noting is more fun than an appreciated knit. I love how she appreciates things that are made just for her and is so aware of where things come from. I like to think that my knitting and sporadic sewing along with cooking from scratch play a larger part in that.

bunny!

Knitty Couture has a few of these bunnies on display and I thought they were so cute. After finishing the knucks I figured I had enough yarn to make a bunny. I finished the knitting last month and only just finished sewing it up. This ball of yarn is never ending. A little was used in Texture, then for the Knucks, and now the bunny. And there is still a bit left!

Lemonlaid

That's how the bug says Lemonade. Her latest Highlights magazine had a pink lemonade recipe that she was excited to try.

She helped squeeze the lemons. And stir everything together. This recipe used cranberry juice to make the lemonade pink. Should be nice and tart. We're now waiting for it to chill.

A note about the puzzle. Friday we hosted a playdate and while helping me clean up The Bug put away the puzzle. We'd finished the border and were sorting the inside pieces. Sigh....at least she was helping clean up.

Chronic

The Knit Along Fervour has moved into Chronic Knit Along Disease. I wouldn't be surprised if this spreads and is considered a massive pandemic. Face masks won't help.

There is a of course the year long sock a month with the LYS. This month I'm doing Cookie A's Twisted Flour Sock Pattern. Fiddly but fun.Still chugging along on AeRang for the Dwarf part of One Shawl to Rule Them All knit along on Ravelry. I'm about half way through the fourth repeat and had to move to longer needles. The pattern calls for doing five but I think I'll be doing about seven so I can use up all the yarn.On Sunday a bunch of people met at the LYS to start the newest summer lace knit along. Juno Regina, I'm using Bambino in the Sea Monster colorway. I loved the colors, which are brighter in real life, and then saw the name. I like the idea of wrapping a sea monster around my neck.

Puzzle Monday

Our first big puzzle together. We'll see if I can keep this a weekly update.

Phase One

Half the dish clothes are done. I'm only doing 8.

I like seeing the neat things variegated yarn does when it's knit up. The zigzag on the first one then a diagonal stripe, then a really cool diamond. The last one's not as neat but still cool, like it's two dish clothes in one, the dark side and the light side. Which side would you use?
