sigh....see you in May

I was really enjoying the regular blogging that was happening about a month ago. It was fun and what I'd really always wanted to do. April however has exploded with everything. Life in general has gotten busier; a good thing and something I've wanted for a while too but taking a bit of time for me to adjust in the time management areas. We also have family visiting this month. Actually starting tonight. Then The Bug and I are going to Virginia to visit my family and....AND....go to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival! Woo! With all this excitement I'm just going to have to say see you in May. Surely there will be knitting to show and sewing (Oh I found this crazy quilt top at an antique place I so want to show you!) and maybe other things too.
See you then!

April DAL

April Dye A Long's theme is Citrus.
We did the bottom one first. Using Limeade (green), Orange (orange), and Lemonade (yellow) we painted the yarn with syringes. The lemonade was crazy light in color so we switched to yellow Easter egg dye. That gave us the bright yellow. This will someday be some very crazy socks.
Second we did the yellow one. After the above experience I knew I wasn't going to use lemonade to paint yellow again. So I tried dying it in the pot. It took 20, yes 20, packets to get this result. Now I know I will never use lemonade for dying in general. Live and learn. This will be socks for Mr. Gnome. A while back when I asked him what color socks I should knit for him next he said yellow. Now you might think he was joking. Well maybe a little but mostly not. He has a pair of store bought yellow socks and wears them regularly.
This was a fun bright dye along to welcome in Spring. And it's nice to have a month free of Scurvy.

The One Shawl To Rule Them All!!

Do you feel ruled? Do you feel drawn to it's awesome powers?
Haruni (grandmother in Elven for those not in the know) in Knit Pick's Gloss I used size 6 needles.
I did one less repeat of the first chart because of a lack of yarnage. At this length it will need a pin to stay one, which for me is usually a DPN (Double Pointed Needle).

Arm Marywarmers

I have FINALLY finished these now that it is too warm for them. Ah well fall will come and I will be ready. It probably would have gone faster if I hadn't been making a lot of stupid mistakes.I used the yarn from this post and this post. My first bit of delving into kool aid dyeing. I made them way longer than the pattern called for so they'd go just over my elbows.

Road Trip!

We went on a road trip to Kansas City. Just two days. And you know what all that driving means!A plain sock! This first is as we got into Kansas City.
I just finished turning the heal as the sun went down. The pictures was taken this morning since it was too dark last night when we got home.
And lest you think you can walk your cows and such at the rest area that is no allowed. It really makes a mess of those bathrooms you know.
