Fortune Cookies

Another one of those bright lustrous colors that just doesn't play nice with the camera. It's are very real red. Ah well.
Makoto Socks one of the patterns in the February Cookie A Club. Named after the man who might have invented fortune cookies; who wasn't Chinese or in China at the time. Apparently fortune cookies are one of the many American things we think are ethnic.
Also Daffodil buds....very early Daffodil buds.
See lots of little fortune cookies. And neat ladders in between. It's the ladders that got me I'll have to admit. The yarn is Alisha Goes Around; a lovely merino, cashmere, silk blend.

Swirls on a Gnome

I'll warn you first that Mr. Gnome can be a bit of a ham.
But I was able to get pictures of the sweater.
I like how it fits him. Took three inches off the arms and they are still a bit long..sigh....
The color swirls turned out nice. Found the buttons at the Upcycle Exchange! Wooo Love button hunting!
He says it's warm. And hasn't said anything about it being itchy. Men are so difficult to dress.

Knits at Sunset

Four! First there on the left is the second sock in the pair for Mr. Gnome. Then is the second sock in the pair for me. The black is a sweater I just started last night. Dahlia, I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Then lastly the shawl. It's been a bit neglected while I finished Mr. Gnome's sweater. Which brings us to what is not in the picture because it is not on the needles; Mr. Gnome's sweater was finished last night! And there was much rejoicing: Yay. Now if I can get him to model it.....

Hand Pies

The other night I made hand pies. Not just dinner pies and not just dessert pies. Both. Why? Because I like a theme. And eating food with my hands.Strawberry Handpies with frozen strawberries from last spring. And Butternut Handpies with squash from this fall.
Both were so good. The Butternut Squash one came from here and was on the PPK's top 100 from 2011 (#57). The Strawberry Handpies are in Vegan Pie in the Sky. I forgot to make the Strawberry Peach Preserves this year. No idea how that happened it's one of the Bug's favorites. But it means we have a lot more frozen strawberries for munching on. Can I tell you how thrilled I was when I saw that this recipes calls for frozen strawberries!? Strawberries when fresh smell so amazing, even when they are still frozen. The recipe says to eat them in a sundress. I don't have a sundress. But I was wearing my apron while I made them; that counts right?

Well that's a bit better

But only a little bit. It's not much less than two inches and will probably be gone by the end of the day. But I did get the February shipment of the Cookie A sock Club. The pattern showed up in my Ravelry box moments before the yarn showed up in my mail box. So exciting! And another bag! They say each bag needs a project or it gets lonely.

Never Trust a Weather Man

Do you see all that stuff that has fallen from the sky? So much The Bug's Zoo class was cancelled. It's crazy out there!
Ummm....Yeay....I'm a bit annoyed that nothing has fallen. Really I wanted it to snow that multiple inches they have threatened us with. We haven't had a real snow yet this year and that is sad. What is winter without at least one good snow fight and snow angel?
On the bright side Mr. Gnome's sweater has grown by inches and inches. The body is complete and now I'm just knitting away at the hood. I was able to try it on him last night and it seems to fit well. The button band still needs to be knit so it's not an exact thing yet but I am hopeful. It's supposed to have a pocket on the front. Mr. Gnome said it doesn't need it. We'll see I'll ask again sooner to that point.
Oh those terrifying flakes!

Mystery 1 complete

The first mystery in the kniteratti is complete. And oooh it is pretty. Lovely bit of a scarf.
Pretty lacey leaves. I really don't know if I would have done this pattern without the intrigue of the mystery...all that garter. I am very happy I did do it however! Just goes to show you may not know what you like.
Now to wait until March when the story continues with another mystery!

six and seven

The sixth and seventh pair of short socks for summer use are complete. The sixth one was finished back in December. And the seventh one just yesterday. The polka dot from these socks, then the yellow from these socks, followed by the blue from these socks and finally the dreaded gray that has been in two pairs of socks and a pair of fingerless gloves. It's the yarn that will not end!
All of this yarn was used last year in the madness. It's getting close to that time of year again!

Are We There Yet?

Mr. Gnome's Sweater. Oh the stockinette! Oh the brown stockinette. Going around and around. And knitting and knitting and knitting.

At 17" something happens; well 17 1/4" for this size but, you know, he's a Gnome. I haven't really read about what happens. Something that will involve the shoulder shaping I imagine. I haven't read ahead. I'm a bad knitter. Really I haven't wanted to get excited about doing something (anything?) other than knitting around and around and around.......
